MEMBERSHIP TERMS

Membership terms

1. What the program is

The Time Bank (the “Program”) is a community platform that helps approved members offer and request services from one another. Members arrange the details of each service directly with each other. The Program provides the platform, records time credits, and may administer a community pool of donated credits. It does not employ, supervise, direct, guarantee, insure, or certify members or their services.

2. Eligibility and account information

You must be at least 18 years old to apply, provide accurate and current information, and use only your own account. The Program may verify identity, approve or decline an application, ask for more information, and suspend or end membership for safety, misuse, or violation of this agreement. Approval and identity review do not constitute a background check, professional credential check, or guarantee of a member's character or ability. You are responsible for safeguarding your password and notifying the Program promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Services and member responsibilities

Before agreeing to a job, both members should discuss its scope, location, timing, materials, expected time, and any relevant health or safety concerns. Each member decides whether to accept a request and may stop an unsafe activity. Members must act lawfully, respectfully, and with reasonable care; have any license, training, permit, or insurance required for a service; follow applicable safety rules; and avoid discrimination, harassment, threats, fraud, and exploitation. Do not post or accept medical, legal, financial, emergency, or other regulated services unless you are properly authorized and the Program has expressly allowed that category. Do not use the Program for an emergency; call emergency services instead. Members are responsible for their own transportation, tools, supplies, taxes, permits, and insurance unless they separately agree otherwise in writing.

4. Time credits

One credit represents 30 minutes of service, and all types of service have the same time value. Credits are internal records of time exchanged; they are not cash, legal tender, wages, a deposit, or a guaranteed right to a future service. Credits cannot be sold, exchanged for money, or transferred outside the Program. An approved member may receive an initial grant of 10 credits (five hours). The requester confirms completion and transfers credits for the actual time worked. A requester must have enough credits to complete a transfer. Members should raise a dispute promptly if the recorded time is incorrect. The Program may correct proven accounting errors and maintain a record of adjustments. Credits may be donated to a community pool; donations are final once recorded, and administrators may grant donated credits to eligible members under Program rules. The Program may change future credit policies with notice, but will not silently erase recorded transactions.

5. Direct member arrangements and risks

Members, not the Program, choose each other and decide the terms of a job. Meeting in a home, driving, caring for a child or pet, using tools, handling property, or performing physical work may involve injury, loss, property damage, or other harm. You are responsible for deciding what precautions and insurance you need. You should verify qualifications, references, and any required licenses yourself. The Program does not guarantee that a member will appear, perform competently, complete a job, pay credits, or behave safely.

6. Release and limits of responsibility

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you voluntarily assume the ordinary risks of participating in member-arranged activities. You release the Program and its operators, directors, officers, employees, and volunteers from claims arising from another member's acts or omissions or from risks inherent in your own participation, including claims based on ordinary negligence where a clear release is legally permitted. This release does not apply to gross negligence, reckless or intentional misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be waived. The Program remains responsible for obligations the law does not allow it to disclaim. Nothing in this agreement makes a member immune from responsibility for their own conduct.

The Program is provided as available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Program does not make warranties about uninterrupted access, member identity, suitability, qualifications, or the quality or safety of services. The Program is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the platform where such a limitation is legally permitted. No provision limits a person's statutory rights that cannot be waived.

7. Disputes and safety reports

Members should first try to resolve disagreements about a job directly and respectfully. The Program may review reports, pause a job or account, adjust a clearly erroneous credit record, or remove content, but it is not required to mediate or decide private disputes. Report unsafe behavior, suspected fraud, or a security concern to the Program promptly. For immediate danger, contact emergency services.

8. Privacy and identity documents

Applications may request a headshot, contact details, and a government-issued identity document for membership review. Identity documents are available only to authorized administrators and should be deleted after the review period established in the Program's privacy notice, unless a documented legal or safety reason requires longer retention. Approved member profiles show names, headshots, skills, and ratings to other members. Job owners receive contact information from members who offer to help; members may also communicate outside the platform. The Program will describe retention, access, security, and deletion practices in a separate privacy notice before applications open. Do not upload another person's identity document or unnecessary sensitive information in job descriptions.

9. Content and ratings

You are responsible for what you post. Do not post content that is unlawful, false, discriminatory, invasive of privacy, or infringing on someone else's rights. You grant the Program permission to display your profile, skills, jobs, and ratings to other members for operation of the Program. Ratings should reflect genuine completed work. The Program may remove inappropriate content and may retain records needed for accounting, safety, or legal obligations.

10. Changes and ending membership

The Program may update these terms by showing the new version and requiring renewed acceptance for material changes before continued participation. A member may ask to close their account, subject to unresolved jobs, credit records, safety investigations, and lawful retention requirements. The Program may suspend access while investigating a safety or misuse report. The disposition of remaining credits on account closure will follow the policy published before applications open.

11. Governing law and agreement

Mississippi law governs this agreement to the extent permitted by law. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective. By checking the agreement box and submitting an application, you indicate that you have read and agree to the version displayed at that time. The Program records the version and acceptance time.
